In this project, the challenge was to create a poster for a movie of the “Battlestar Galactica” series, using Adobe Photoshop. The focus was on developing an impactful graphic piece that captured the essence of the franchise, using images and editing techniques to highlight the main elements of the plot and characters.
The objective of this project was to create a graphic piece for a cultural product, such as a movie, series, game or show, using Adobe Photoshop. The proposal was to develop a poster that integrated images and visual elements from the chosen work, applying editing and layout concepts. Through this process, we sought to understand and apply the fundamentals of producing edited images to create a visually striking campaign.
Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction television
series and part of the Battlestar Galactica franchise.
The show was developed by Ronald D. Moore and executive produced by
Moore and David Eick as a retelling of the 1978 television series
Battlestar Galactica created by Glen A. Larson. The series pilot
first aired as a three-hour miniseries in December 2003 on the
Sci-Fi Channel, which was followed by four regular seasons,
ending its run on March 20, 2009.
Synopsis: When an old enemy, the Cylons,
resurfaces and destroys the 12 colonies,
the crew of the aging Galactica protects
a small civilian fleet - humanity's last -
while traveling towards the legendary 13th colony, Earth.
The result of this project was a fictitious poster for a movie in the Battlestar Galactica franchise, with a different approach. As much as being part of an academic exercise, the project also represents my personal interest in the series. The poster was developed with a retro aesthetic, avoiding the traditional focus on the actors and their names, as is common in modern posters. The intention was to create a visual that would arouse curiosity, while maintaining the essence of the franchise and exploring the visual composition in a more subtle and conceptual way, focusing on iconic elements of the Battlestar Galactica universe.
